“Ryan and I met at a college ambassador training at Utah State University on August 25, 2015. We joke that Ryan noticed me the moment I walked in, but all I noticed were the bagels sitting on the table (priorities). The jury is still out on what happened next. Ryan’s claims I invited him to the Cache Valley Gardener’s Market that Saturday, but I’m actually pretty sure he invited himself. Either way, we ended up wandering through vendor booths, sampling cheeses and smelling all the handmade soaps. We spent the rest of the afternoon getting to know each other, and Ryan even showed me a few of his best (ahem, most embarrassing) dance moves to some Britney Spears classics.
Over the next 9 months, we jumped into First Dam at the end of October for the USU Questival (I knew it was love when we spent 24 hours together completing ridiculous tasks, not even stopping long enough to brush our teeth), constructed an architecturally sound gingerbread house from scratch, went on a cruise to Mexico, became True Aggies, and started testing out new recipes together every Sunday (only mild burns were sustained).
During the month of June, Ryan went to Brazil for month on a study abroad. When he finally got back, we both realized that we never wanted to be apart that long again. We spent the rest of the summer camping, going on bike rides, and watching The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise (which really is the best show in the franchise).
A few months later, on January 19, 2017, (in what felt like -45 degree weather) Ryan proposed in front of Old Main Tower. Afterwards, we celebrated at The Bluebird Restaurant with ice cream sundaes. Our wedding will be on June 24, 2017 in Ogden, UT. We will be having a small ceremony and dinner with family and a few close friends. I can’t think of anything more exciting than getting to spend the rest of my life with my best friend making important decisions about what we want to do, where we want to go, and which color of towels we should get. I feel so lucky to have found Ryan and am counting down the days until our wedding.”
