There’s nothing better than celebrating love, and when Hollywood does it, they end up with some pretty spectacular results. Luckily, our consultants are huge movie buffs, and when asked about their favorite big screen weddings, they were eager to share. So if you’re looking for something low-key to do on Valentine’s, curl up with your S.O., friends or family and sit back to enjoy these touching stories about love and living life.
.:. Rachel’s Pick – About Time .:.
The story about a man with the ability to rewind time to change events in his life, About Time focuses on Tim’s quest to get a girlfriend. He meets Mary and falls in love, but on their wedding day Murphy’s Law is in full effect. But despite the chaos and being able to go back in time to change it, everything stays as is because it’s absolutely perfect chaos.
.:. Vanessa’s Pick – Thumbelina .:.
An avid Disney fan, Vanessa ultimately went with Thumbelina as her favorite big screen wedding and its not hard to see why! Everyone wants to marry this tiny talented girl, but after a number of missteps, ultimately true love triumphs when Thumbelina and the fairy prince Cornelius marry.
.:. Kim’s Pick – Emma .:.
It starts with a wedding and ends with a wedding, and what could possibly symbolize love more? Jane Austen wrote some romances for the ages, but its Emma’s obliviousness despite being a self-declared matchmaker that make this proposal scene supremely satisfying.
.:. Camia’s Pick – Runaway Bride .:.
What’s better than one wedding? That’s right–five! In this charming tale, Maggie’s a woman who continually gets cold feet and leaves her fiances at the altar. As reporter Ike digs deeper to find out why, the two fall in love and though she runs away from him once, she goes on a journey to discover herself and marries him in the end.
.:. Terry’s Pick – Father of the Bride .:.
This movie is more about a father’s love for his daughter than love between husband and wife, and it shows just how deep those connections run. While at first father George is not on board at all with the idea of his little girl marrying, he realizes that his daughter is in good hands and in this touching wedding scene he learns to let her go. (I’m not crying, you’re crying.)
.:. Julie’s Pick – The Proposal .:.
A fake proposal followed by a real one makes every movie better. Editor Margaret and her assistant Andrew fall in love after pretending to be engaged to stop her from getting deported, but after a few heartfelt confessions near the end, they realize it’s the real deal.
